Homework
At Brookdale, we believe that homework is an important part of every child’s learning journey. It helps children to practise and reinforce skills learned in class, develop good study habits, and share their learning with families at home.
Each week, all children are expected to:
-
Read at least three times and record this in their reading journal

In Year 6, children are also given additional English and Maths homework at times. This is to support their preparation for secondary school and to build confidence and independence ahead of the Key Stage 2 SATs. These extra tasks give pupils the opportunity to consolidate key skills and deepen their understanding in the core subjects, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.
Homework information is shared via Class Dojo and is checked weekly by staff.
To support children who may struggle to complete tasks at home, we offer support at lunch and break times when teachers or teaching assistants will support children to complete tasks
