Headteacher's Introduction to Curriculum Morning

SLIDES FROM CURRICULUM MORNING

Spring Term 2026

Welcome to Year 6

Our Spring Term Big Question is:

Does our environment affect who we are?

This term, our Big Question guides much of our learning as we explore how people interact with and impact their environment. In English, we will develop our writing through high-quality texts, including 'Town Is by the Sea', which explores life in a coastal community shaped by coal mining, while our guided reading sessions will focus on the novel 'The Silver Sword', a powerful story set during and after the Second World War that explores resilience, family and survival.

Across the wider curriculum, we will learn about renewable energy in Geography, explore street art in Art, and carry out a local area study in History. In RE, we will investigate the significance of religious places and buildings to different communities, helping us understand how environments are valued and protected around the world.

Please familiarise yourself with the Curriculum Morning audio recordings and slides available here. It will have lots of information about our day: what we learn and how we learn. The Curriculum Page on the website helps you find out much more about each of the subjects.

If you would like to ask any further questions, please send a message on Class Dojo or make an in-person appointment with the school office.
